Mel's Surnames
|
I’ve been doing genealogy research since 2000 and have accumulated almost 44,000 individuals and nearly 6200 different surnames in my Family Tree Maker file. My primary or family lines include SLANE, HARTMAN, PHILLIPS, BALE, HUNT, HENRY, WALKER, GRAVES, RYAN, GODSIL AND PEACOCK. A lot of these people are from parts of the US other than Central Illinois and also other countries. When I had pretty much completed my family research, it occurred to me that I had a lot of other Central Illinois surnames in my file that I could research and possibly help other people from this area. In addition to my own work, I’ve also added a lot of data recently from other people’s research, from cousins and cousins of cousins. I have people in my file representing Peoria, Stark, Marshall, Fulton, Knox, Tazewell and Woodford Counties in Central Illinois. Peoria, Stark and Knox Counties are the most heavily represented. Specifically, I have one cluster of data covering the Glasford, Trivoli, Edwards and Oak Hill area of western Peoria County. I have another cluster covering the Galesburg, Victoria and Knoxville area of Knox County. Finally, I have another, much larger cluster covering northern Peoria County, southern Stark County and a little bit of Marshall County west of the Illinois River. That large area includes the towns of Alta, Kickapoo, Dunlap, Brimfield, Laura, West Jersey, Wyoming, Speer, Monica, Duncan, Princeville, Edelstein, Lawn Ridge and Chillicothe. I also have a smaller cluster of data for the Camp Grove-Bradford area. The list of surnames that I’ve posted represents those for which I have the most information, from at least 80 individuals through several hundred. Below that is another list of surnames for which I have between 40 and 80 individuals. Obviously, I have a better chance of helping you if the name is in the main list. If I don’t have the specific people you’re looking for, I will do some research to see if I can come up with anything for you. No charge, this is something I enjoy doing. Mel Slane |
