GEORGE WASSON DIES VIOLA, KANSAS, HOME

(Mrs. Ina Higgs Wasson of Viola, Kansas, sends the Gazette the following obituary of her husband, George Wasson, who was formerly a resident of Elmwood, and has relatives and friends here who regret his death.)

George Wasson was born in Elmwood township, Peoria county, Illinois, March 21, 1862. He was the eldest son of George Tilford and Susan (Hovenden) Wasson, early pioneers of Illinois. Mr. Wasson was united in marriage to Ina E. Higgs August 25, 1897. To this union was born one son, Roy H. Wasson, an attorney of Wichita, Kansas.

In 1908 Mr. Wasson moved with his family to Viola, Kansas, in which community he resided until his departure from this life May 13, 1936. He is survived by his wife, son and two granddaughters, Gloria and Kay, upon whom, during his later days he centered his almost entire thoughts, devotion and affection. Besides these are three sisters, Mrs. Mina Westbay, Mrs. Dora Colvin and Mrs. Sue Schmidt; and three brothers, Dan and Ollie of Elmwood, and Frank Wasson of Glasford. Most of his life in Illinois was spent in Elmwood township. He was ever grateful for the many attentions shown him by his neighbors and friends during his prolonged illness.
