| John M. McCarthy, Sr., 65, president of the South Side
Foundry prior to his recent retirement, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday
at his home two miles north of Princeville. A Peoria resident for 59 years, Mr. McCarthy moved to the Princeville area five years ago. He had been in failing health. Born at Chicago Sept 8, 1888, he was the son of Patrick and Mary Cashman McCarthy. He married Mary Ann Wilcox at Monmouth Oct. 17. 1911. He was a member of St. Mary of the Woods Church at Princeville and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Topping and
Miss Mary Ellen McCarthy, both of Chicago; three sons, John
McCarthy, Jr. and Robert McCarthy, both of Peoria and Thomas
McCarthy of Tucson, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren and three sister, Mrs.
Mary Bimmerle, Mrs. Elizabeth Keane and Mrs. Grace McHugh, all of
Chicago. Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. |
