Last Rites Are Held For Mrs. Almina J. Kerns

Funeral services for Mrs. Almina J. Kerns of Princeville were held Saturday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the Bouton Memorial home in Princeville, Rev. J. J. Graves, pastor of the Princeville Methodist church, was in charge of the service. Burial was in the Princeville cemetery.

Almina J. Kerns was born near Duncan September 29, 1869, the daughter of Andrew J. and Henrietta Adam Lair and died Thursday, August 30 in her home in Princeville. She was united in marriage January 19, 1898 to Joshua C. Kerns, who preceded her in death February 4, 1919. To this union was born one son, Merle Kerns of Toulon.

Mrs. Kerns spent her entire life in the Duncan and Princeville communities. She was an active member of the Methodist church, being president of the Ladies Aid for a number of years. She had been a member of the Methodist church longer that any other living member. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors and was an Oracle for a number of years. She was also a member of the WCTU.

Surviving are one son, Merle Kerns of Toulon, two granddaughters, Mrs. Dean King of Princeville, Mrs. William Hall of Peoria; and three grandsons. A niece, Miss Effie Liar, who always made her home with Mrs. Kerns, also survives.

Pallbearers were Leo A. Graves, Berwin Dell, Elza Graves, Clarence Ralph, Harold Poole and Fred Jackson.

Friends and relatives form out of town attending the funeral services for Mrs. Almina Kerns Saturday afternoon were Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, Vernice and Lela Evans of Peoria and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gingrich of Toulon.
