JOHN R. KELLY, 19, POLIO PATIENT DIES SATURDAY

Funeral services for John Robert Kelly, 19, of south of Toulon, who passed away at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Peoria in St. Francis hospital where he had been a patient since December 4, 1945, were held Monday morning at St. Dominic's church in Wyoming.

Solemn requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. Bratkowski at 9:30 that morning. Burial was in St. Marys cemetery in Princeville.

Pallbearers were Herman McIntosh and Dick Chamberlain of Toulon; Richard and Tom Kelly of Wyoming; John Francis Kissell of Iowa; Jack Colgan of Brimfield.

John Robert Kelly, son of John Peter and Josephine Morrissey Kelly, was born January 9, 1927, in Valley township, Stark county and died January 26, 1946 at Peoria St. Francis hospital at the age of 19 years and 17 days.

He moved with his parents to a farm near Springtown and attended Toulon Township High school and assisted his father in farm work. He was a member of St. Dominics Catholic church in Wyoming.

His father, John Peter Kelly, 48, died suddenly at Peoria St. Francis hospital on January 18, just a week before his son. He was feeding dinner to his son, who was confined to an iron lung, when he suddenly collapsed and death occurred almost immediately.

Surviving are his mother and one sister Miss JoAnn Kelly, a student at Toulon Township High school.
