The funeral of the late Dr. Herrell of Hanna City took place at the M.E. church. There was an immense crowd present to pay the last tribute of respect to the memory of the deceased. He was given a soldier's burial and the casket was draped with the emblems of his country and some lovely flowers. The choir sand the beautiful son, "Nearer, my God to thee" after which Rev. Gibson of the M.E. church at Hanna read part of the third chapter of the 2nd epistle of Peter, followed by prayer by the Presbyterian minister of Hanna. The choir then sang "Asleep in Jesus" after which Rev. Gibson made a few remarks concerning the deceased and introduced Rev. Harper of Smithville, who addressed the congregation. He tool for his text the 14th verse of the third chapter of the 2nd epistle of Peter. This was followed by prayer by Rev. McFadden of the U.C. church at Bethel. The choir then sang another song after which the relatives and friends took a last look at the
deceased. He was laid to rest in the Smithville cemetery. Thus another good man has been taken from among us, and he will be greatly missed, not only in his own family, but the whole community mourns the loss of an upright citizen and true friend.

Gone But Not Forgotten.
By Madame Do Do

Never before did the residents of Hanna City witness so large a funeral as was tendered the remains of our most benevolent friend and brother, Dr. Herrell. He was a man loved and respected by all, ever ready with a kind word and smile for those with whom he came in contact, and many a poor family will miss his hospitable services. He was ever ready to discharge his duties with untiring energy and never was the night too dark, or a storm too severe for him to brave when called by some one ill.

Lightly may the dust rest upon they breast,
Brightly may the flowers bloom over thy rest,
Drop ye a teat on the dew moistened sod.
There we will leave him and trust him to God.
