Mrs. Margaret A. Gates, 42 of 820 North Monroe street, died at 8 a. m. Monday [Dec. 9, 1946] at St. Francis hospital. A former Princeville resident, Mrs. Gates came to Peoria four years ago. Formerly employed by the Bemis Bag Co. she more recently operated a rooming house at the Monroe address.

She was born 9, 1905, in Peoria, a daughter of Samuel and Carrie Philips Taylor. Surviving are a son Samuel F. Gates; a daughter, Virginia Ann Gates, both of Peoria; a half-brother Leonard Taylor of Keego Harbor, Mich., and several aunts and uncles.
