MISS JEMINA "MINA" EDWARDS DIES AT HOME OF NIECE IN PEORIA

Miss Mina Edwards, a lifelong resident of Princeville, passed away at the home of her niece, Miss Edith Campbell, in Peoria, with whom she had made her home during the past three years, Sunday morning. February 22, at 2:30 o’clock [1931]. She would have been 84 years old on the 15th of next March.

She was the oldest daughter of Thomas L. and Sarah (Dahlrymple) Edwards. All of her brothers and sisters have preceded her in death, Miss Marguerite, Miss Ellen, Mrs. Sophia Campbell and Archibald Edwards. Two brothers, Samuel and James, died during boyhood and were buried in Providence, Rhode Island.

Miss Edwards spent her early days on a farm near Princeville and the family moved to Princeville in 1858, where she resided until three years ago.

Miss Mina was a teacher in Peoria county for nearly half a century and taught in the third and fourth grade room of the Princeville Public School for many years. She began teaching in Peoria county rural schools nearly seventy years ago.

She was an active member of the Presbyterian church from girlhood and continued as such all her life until old age and failing health made that no longer possible. She was secretary of the missionary society of the local Presbyterian church for 32 years.

All who knew he know she led an extraordinary unselfish life. Her greatest enjoyment was in being of service to others. Even in her old age when both eyesight and hearing, she did her feeble best to make life happier for all those about her.

She leaves to respect her memory, all who have known her, both as teacher and friend, and the following relatives: a sister-n-law, Mrs. Etta Edwards of Santa Barbara, California; four nieces, Miss Edith Campbell and Mrs. Faye Meyers of Peoria, Mrs. Amie Nyswander of Santa Barbara, California, and Mrs. Ellen Roseberry of Champaign; and three nephews, Tom Edwards of Boston, Massachusetts, and Delwin and Forrest Edwards of Princeville. Also 11 great nephews and nieces in whom she was greatly interested.

Funeral services were held at the Bullock memorial home in Princeville on Tuesday, February 24, at 2:00 p.m. and interment was in the Princeville cemetery.
