| Last Rites Are Held Saturday Morning For Mrs. Byrnes The sad news reached relatives and friends of Mrs. Susan Byrnes Wednesday, June 27, that she had passed away at 11:50 a. m. that day. Mrs. Byrnes was born in Ford county, March 4, 1875, the daughter of Francis and Emma Slader Drendel. She was united in marriage in St. Johns church in Cullom, September 20, 1899 to James Byrnes, who preceded her in death April 19, 1928. To this union six children were; three sons, Elmer, LaVergue and Francis Byrnes, all of Princeville and two daughters, Mrs. Leila Althoff and Mrs. Gladys Harmon both of Princeville survive. One son Clarence died in infancy. She is also survived by three grandsons, James Byrnes and Michael and Thomas Harmon. She is survived by three sisters, Miss Barbara Drendel and Mrs. James Jeyte of Cullom and Mrs. Henry Mertz of Effingham and one brother, Fred Drendel of Cullom. Four brothers, George, Henry, Frank and Martin Drendel preceded her in death. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her cheerful disposition won a large circle of friends and she will be greatly missed in her home community where she lived for the last 52 years. She was a devout member of the Catholic church and also a member
of the Alter and Rosary society. Pallbearers were Leo Callery, LaVergne Plunket, LeRoy Gruner, Rudolph Oertley, William Harmon and Leo Westefer. |
