MRS. MARY J. BYRNES DIES LAST THURSDAY

Mary J., daughter of James and Mary M. McDermott, was born June 28, 1854, in Akron township, Peoria county, Illinois and passed away at Princeville, Illinois, September 14, 1939, aged 85 years, 2 months and 17 days.

She was united in marriage to Peter Byrnes on October 18, 1875. To this union two children were born, James P. and Mayme. The husband and father passed away June 5, 1879 and the son preceded his mother in death April 19, 1928.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Mayme Hart, who tenderly cared for here during her long illness; two brothers, Thomas McDermott of Kankakee, Illinois and Mathew McDermott of Princeville; one sister Mrs. Caroline Fulton of Chicago, Ill., who was unable to attend last rites because of poor health; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren, besides numerous other more distant relatives and a wide circle of friends.

Mrs. Byrnes was a devout member of the Catholic faith and a regular attendant at services at St. Mary of the Woods church so long as her health permitted. She was a kind mother and grandmother and took and special interest in her grandchildren and great grandchildren, by whom her passing is deeply mourned.
