Brimfield – Mrs. Penelope DeLent Brockway, 91, widow of Cassius G. Brockway and a resident of the Brimfield community many years died at 1 this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Homer (Esther) Tucker near Brimfield following a lengthy illness.

Born in Beaver Dam, Wisc., Feb. 1, 1862, she was a daughter of Louis and Esther Howe DeLent. She married Mr. Brockway in Beaver Dam, Dec. 7, 1883. He died in Brimfield in 1943. Mrs. Brockway was a member of Union church at Brimfield and a former member of the Peoria Women’s club and the Tuesday club of Wyoming.

Surviving are her daughters; two sons, Frank and Guy Brockway, both of Peoria; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. A daughter, Mrs. Lela Fordice, three brothers and five sisters, including Mrs. Lucy Graves, Mrs. Matilda Graves and Mrs. Adelina Colwell, all of Wyoming, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Taylor funeral home here with the Rev. Loyal Pearce officiating. Interment will be in Brimfield cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday afternoon and evening.
