| Last Rites Are Held Wednesday In Peoria For Bert Brassfield Bert Brassfield, nephew of Fred Hammer, well known here passed away in a Peoria hospital Sunday after a prolonged Illness. He resided in Rome for the past several years. He was born is Peoria March 28, 1895, the son of Jonathan and Sadie Cooper Brassfield. His mother was a member of the Cooper family, who were among the early pioneers of Dunlap. He was a stationary engineer for the Pabst Brewing Co. for 17 years before ill health forced him to retire 18 months ago. He was a Navy veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion Post in Chillicothe. Surviving are his wife; his mother; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Ristrich and Mrs. Martha Mason both of Peoria; two brothers, Jonathan of the Canal Zone and Mercel of Venezuela; one sister, Mrs. Reva Whittaker and other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held with Rev. G. L. Messenger of the Glen Oak Christian church officiating. He was laid to rest in the American Legion Hill in Springdale cemetery in Peoria. |
