March 3, 1927:
"While the Harry Buttrick and Nelson Miller families, occupants of the Buttrick
home, 2705 Knoxville Avenue, were at the theater, fire destroyed the house and
nearly all the contents Tuesday night with the aggregate loss of some $20,000.
"No waterplugs were available and the flames had mounted high before the Peoria
Fire Department sent chemical engines out in response to a belated alarm turned
by Jerome Clark, Boy Scout."
March 3, 1927:
"Elsie Kahn is taking aquatic lessons. She this this writer she didn't hope to
swim the English Channel, [but] that her ambition was to swim across the
Kickapoo Creek."
