SCHMIDT - WASSON

A FEW WEDDINGS

Once again the east countryside has been the scene of one of those "record breaking" social affairs. On Wednesday, Dec 28 at the old homestead of Mrs. Til Wasson, occurred the marriage of her youngest daughter, Sue, to Mr. Edward J. Schmidt of this place. Promptly at 6 o'clock p.m. the sweet strains of Fenuelle's harp orchestra of Peoria, rendering Lohengrin's wedding march was the signal to the high contracting parties that the all important moment in their lives had arrived. The orchestra was hidden beneath lace curtains, and as the music vibrated through the beautiful apartments the young couple stood before Rev. Johnson of Trivoli, who in a few words made it possible for them to always think and live as one. After the ceremony they sat down to a dainty and sumptuous spread. Sixty-five guests were present, including many family and friends from Peoria and Laura. The bride's dress was white French lawn, trimmed in real lace; the groom wore the conventional black. The lovely presents were many, beautiful and useful. The couple has a host of friends, who wish them God speed on their life journey. At present they will make their home with the bride's mother. Their future plans have not been made public.

A BEAUTIFUL WEDDING

On Wednesday, December 28th, at the old homestead, five miles south of Elmwood, occurred the marriage of Miss Sue, the youngest daughter of Mrs. George Tilford Wasson, and Mr. Edward J. Schmidt, son of Mrs. Philip Schmidt, of Peoria.

The house and tables were tastily decorated in the typical emblem of the season, and at the appointed hour, 6 o'clock, the orchestra, hidden behind lace curtains, profusely decorated with holly, commenced to play the solemn though beautiful strains of Lohengrin's wedding march. A few minutes later the bridal pair led by the Rev. Johnson, of Trivoli, passed down the stairs into the parlor where amid relatives and friends the ever solemn words were spoken which made the one.

After congratulations they passed into the dining room, where a three course meal was served, dainty though sumptuous. While all were enjoying one of those waltzes, which is so well rendered by Fenuelle's harp orchestra of Peoria, we were surprised to know that a band had arrived outside and we were being serenaded. Their musical instruments were of various kinds and the harmony can be better appreciated if heard. After the encore they received a bow of recognition from the bride and compliments from the groom, and they then departed for their homes for a quiet smoke.

The bride was beautifully gowned in white, trimmed in real lace, carried Marshal Niel roses, and wore no ornaments except a diamond. The groom was dressed in the conventional suit of black; and has won for himself a bride worthy of his many excellent qualities. Mr. Schmidt is a farmer.

The most excellent music continued through the entire evening, and we can but wish that the happiness and cheer of this memorable evening may continue and be strewn along their path and "make life worth living".

The guests numbered sixty-six. The numerous presents were useful and beautiful. E. C. T.
