Herman Lichtenberger 

was born 18 July 1854 in Grossmansdorf, Saxony. He came to Peoria in 1884 and worked here as a butcher. In 1883 he established himself as a butcher, a business he operated until 1885. Then he built his own business house at 215 Martin Street, where he still today operates a grocery store and butchers shop with success.
