Mr. Hoefer was born on 29 November 1862 in Burlington, Iowa. He came in the year 1884 to Peoria and worked first for the well-known old mortician, N. Roth. One year later he bought the company and since 1892 he leads the business alone. In the year 1885 he stepped up to the altar with Henrietta Roth. The marriage was blessed with a son, Oliver, who is 16 years old today. From 1892-1896 Mr. Hoefer was “Coroner" and in the past spring he was selected as the council "supervisor".

Mr. Hoefer is the oldest Mortician Peoria has.
